Cutler's days is Denver numbered?

When the agent gets involved in a dispute between player and management, it's all but over.

In today's latest installment of The Young Jay Cutler & The Restless, Cutler's agent, Bus Cook (famous for being Brett Favre's mouthpiece at times), was in the news today as he basically called out Broncos' owner Pat Bowlen for implying to Cutler that they would still keep the offensive coaching staff after Mike Shanahan was hired.

Cook told NFL.com that Cutler met with Bowlen shortly after Shanahan was fired on Dec. 30 to express his concerns.

"Jay was disappointed in the firing of Mike Shanahan and met with the owner," Cook told NFL.com. "The owner assured him everything would be fine. The owner said he had the second-best offense in football and would leave the offensive staff intact. Jay was good with that. Then he hires an offensive coach who gets rid of the staff."

After new head coach Josh McDaniels attempted to trade for Matt Cassel, Cutler and McDaniels have been at odds.

Once you call out the owner, let's just say it is probably time for Cutler to: Get out of Denver

Chargers sign Vinnedge, Betschart

No Wyoming football players were drafted over the weekend in the NFL Draft, but a pair of former Cowboys will try to stick with the San Diego Chargers. Punter Billy Vinnedge and tight end/H-back Wade Betschart both signed free agent contracts Sunday with the Chargers. As of Sunday night, they were the lone former Cowboys to sign with a NFL team. Cornerbacks Michael Medina and Julius Stinson are waiting for that opportunity. Vinnedge and Betschart join former Cowboys, wide receiver Malcom Floyd and quarterback Casey Bramlet, on the San Diego roster. Bramlet was picked up last week, likely as a "camp arm." Other former Cowboys currently on NFL rosters include kicker Aaron Elling (Cincinnati), cornerback Derrick Martin (Baltimore), offensive lineman Adam Goldberg (St. Louis), linebacker Patrick Chukwurah (Tampa Bay) and safety John Wendling and defensive lineman Corey Mace (both of Buffalo).

Do fired NFL coaches still get paid?

The first Monday after the end of the regular season in the NFL is accurately labeled Black Monday. Less than a week after Christmas, it's when the axes fall on several head coaches. Bah humbug!!! As of this writing, three NFL coaches -- Eric Mangini of the New York Jets, Romeo Crennel of the Cleveland Browns and Rod Marinelli of the Detroit Lions -- will be filing their unemployment papers any day now. Actually, that makes me wonder. Do fired professional coaches file for unemployment compensation? Are they actually listed on the national unemployment statistics? I wonder what the fired coaches bi-weekly unemployment checks will be? I'll bet it is more than $330 a week. I blame it on the economy. Forget the fact that the Lions went 0-16 this season.
