New Cowgirls basketball website launched

The Cowgirl basketball program is now reaching out via the worldwide web.

I just stumbled across this on Tuesday and evidently it was just launched on Sunday. The Cowgirls have their own website, which is not connected to the athletics department. Check it out at www.cowgirlbasketball.com.

The site features rosters of the players and coaches and their schedule and results, along with other activities in a very modern and professional way. My guess is that it was creates as another way to reach out to prospective recruits, as well as young fans.

It will be interesting to see how the site progresses in the future. Regardless, it's a nice site that I'm sure all of the UW athletic programs might look at as well.

Love it. Well done and I think that UW should look at promoting all of their athletics programs like this. Really put a face with a name off the court and lets you learn about the team.

That's actually what Coach Legerski told me Wednesday night after the CSU game. This is the Cowgirl basketball program's site, just to show another side of the athletes, a more personal side.

Thanks for the memories

As I put my watch up to my ear, I expect to hear click, click, click, as each second moves forward. Kind of like my current days as a sportswriter ... click, click, click. Chargers sign Vinnedge, Betschart

No Wyoming football players were drafted over the weekend in the NFL Draft, but a pair of former Cowboys will try to stick with the San Diego Chargers. Punter Billy Vinnedge and tight end/H-back Wade Betschart both signed free agent contracts Sunday with the Chargers. As of Sunday night, they were the lone former Cowboys to sign with a NFL team. Cornerbacks Michael Medina and Julius Stinson are waiting for that opportunity. Vinnedge and Betschart join former Cowboys, wide receiver Malcom Floyd and quarterback Casey Bramlet, on the San Diego roster. Bramlet was picked up last week, likely as a "camp arm." Other former Cowboys currently on NFL rosters include kicker Aaron Elling (Cincinnati), cornerback Derrick Martin (Baltimore), offensive lineman Adam Goldberg (St. Louis), linebacker Patrick Chukwurah (Tampa Bay) and safety John Wendling and defensive lineman Corey Mace (both of Buffalo).

Sam & Me

On more than one occasion, my wife has said that I should write a book about my dog, Sam. I wrote about Sam in April on Wyoming Sports.org and here's an updated version for those new to my blog. Check to the right of the page (under my profile) and you'll see his picture, with the heading, "Sam the dog, the guardian of all that is good." It probably should read, "Sam the dog, the guardian of all that drives my wife crazy." Now, don't get me wrong. Teresa loves Sam. He just drives her crazy. It's probably my fault. Many of his bad habits can probably be traced back to me. I let him sleep in the bedroom with us and he likes to begin his night by laying by Teresa's side of the bed. In case you haven't seen the picture of Sam, he's a black lab. A quick jump out of bed in the middle of night is dangerous and often not suitable for children to hear. Of course, Sam is spoiled.
