Jump on the bandwagon
Welcome back Cowboy fans.
It has been interesting to hear what Wyoming football fans have had to say the past couple of weeks, with the Cowboys on the winning side of things.
Two weeks ago, the Cowboys were thought of as one of the worst teams in the country, highlighted by its insertion into ESPN.com's Bottom 10. The Wyoming-San Diego State game was named the Pillow Fight of the Week.
UW fans laughed and vented, and continued to cry in their beer (or whatever they were drinking). Armageddon was just around the corner.
But suddenly, attitudes began to change. Wyoming rolls past hapless San Diego State 35-10 and the offense showed some signs of life. Of course, it was just San Diego State and that was that. But, as they say, a win is a win.
Wyoming still had to follow that game with a matchup that agreed upon several years ago in Knoxville, Tenn., against big, bad Tennessee. The Cowboys went in as 26-point underdogs. Well, as it was turned out, Tennessee was bad, but not in a good way.
Yet, a bad SEC team should have still walked all over a bad Mountain West Conference team, right?
Evidently, the Cowboys didn't get the memo.
Wyoming downed the Vols 13-7 to send the Tennessee fans into a deeper depression. Cowboy fans, however, were in heaven. Quoting Vols' fans, they are probably going to rename a street in "Wherever, Wyoming," after the win or calling the Cowboys dirt farmers.
Funny how that happens. Wyoming residents, for the most part, can tell you things about different parts of the country, whether it is California, New York or Tennessee. I'd say most Wyoming football fans knew the game was in Knoxville. How many Tennessee fans know that Wyoming plays in Laramie? Actually, how many Tennessee fans know where Wyoming is? And we're supposed to be the hicks.
With that being said, Cowboy fans are now talking about becoming bowl eligible, rather than trying to name a new football coach. It's amazing how things can change in just two weeks.
But what the heck. Jump on the bandwagon when you can. You never know when the ride will return.
