Saturday's wake up call

Fall back
I guess fall is coming this weekend. The weather has been great, so there is no complaining here. I am a little anxious for some cooler weather, just so I can wear my new KOWB/KCGY jacket. That's pretty sad, isn't it?

MLB surprises?
What's your thoughts of the MLB playoffs so far? Let's see, Red Sox sweep Angels in LA and Dodgers sweep Cubs in Chicago. Some things never change. Also, Rays up 2-0 and Phillies up 2-0.

I'd have to say that there isn't a whole lot of drama yet. I think the White Sox can make a run at the series, as they return home, but I'm not sure the other three will be more than a four-game set.

Plainsmen continue to struggle
For some reason the Laramie Plainsmen have forgotten how to tackle. It sure seems that way as teams, specifically Evanston and Scottsbluff, have run roughshod on them in the last two weeks. Last week Scottsbluff's Tyler Geary ran for 272 yards against Laramie in the 23-0 Bearcats' win and Friday night Evanston's Cory Anthos ran for 239 yards in the 51-23 Red Devis'l win.

With No. 2 Green River coming into Deti Stadium next week, the Plainsmen will need to figure that out. It's now down to winning two of three for the Plainsmen to reach the playoffs.

Predictions in Loboland?
Another critical game for the Cowboys. Where have we heard that one before? Karsten Sween will get the nod at QB and barring injury, will finish the game. Last week's four-QB rotation was a disaster, even for the most loyal and optimistic Cowboy fans.

I'm also anxious to see if sophomore Brandon Stewart can come in and give the Cowboy offense a lift. Stewart was projected as the starter at wide receiver and punt returner before a collision with Ward Dobbs in practice sidelined him for the first five games.

I'll give two predictions here (yeah, that's the easy way out). If the Cowboys can control their turnovers, they'll be in the game and pull it out 23-20. If it is a repeat of the last two weeks, we'll, you know ... 38-13 Lobos.

You might as well put that down for much of the rest of the season.
