Changes a plenty

Continue to bear with me as I complete my makeover (my Website, not me personally. I'm a lost cause there).

This is an attempt to make somewhat of a living as an Internet journalist. Previously on Wyoming Sports.org, there was no way I could sell advertising on my Web provider. Now I can.

As I have now changed Web providers, hopefully I can do a few things that I couldn't before. There are still plenty of bugs to be worked out (on the Web and in my own mind). I'm going to attempt to put on some previous articles that I had on the previous site from spring football and Cowboy and Cowgirl basketball. Not all, but some for archive purposes. And I hope to get going for some updated coverage soon at UW, Laramie High School and the youth scene (particularly American Legion and Colts baseball this summer). Eventually, I hope to have a little of everything (at least of what I can manage) once I really get going.

That leads me to a little advertising. If there are any prospective advertisers out there, please feel free to contact me (on the contact us tab) and we'll get started. Also, if there are any individuals or businesses that would just like to donate to the cause, I'd be glad to have you on board. All donations would go to 100 percent of upkeep on the site, whether it is paying for the building and maintenance of the site, to freelance writers or photographers. All donations will be used entirely for the site.

Sorry to sound like I am panhandling, but when you start from scratch, and I mean from scratch, a little helping hand is always appreciated.

Thanks for the memories

As I put my watch up to my ear, I expect to hear click, click, click, as each second moves forward. Kind of like my current days as a sportswriter ... click, click, click. Chargers sign Vinnedge, Betschart

No Wyoming football players were drafted over the weekend in the NFL Draft, but a pair of former Cowboys will try to stick with the San Diego Chargers. Punter Billy Vinnedge and tight end/H-back Wade Betschart both signed free agent contracts Sunday with the Chargers. As of Sunday night, they were the lone former Cowboys to sign with a NFL team. Cornerbacks Michael Medina and Julius Stinson are waiting for that opportunity. Vinnedge and Betschart join former Cowboys, wide receiver Malcom Floyd and quarterback Casey Bramlet, on the San Diego roster. Bramlet was picked up last week, likely as a "camp arm." Other former Cowboys currently on NFL rosters include kicker Aaron Elling (Cincinnati), cornerback Derrick Martin (Baltimore), offensive lineman Adam Goldberg (St. Louis), linebacker Patrick Chukwurah (Tampa Bay) and safety John Wendling and defensive lineman Corey Mace (both of Buffalo).

Do fired NFL coaches still get paid?

The first Monday after the end of the regular season in the NFL is accurately labeled Black Monday. Less than a week after Christmas, it's when the axes fall on several head coaches. Bah humbug!!! As of this writing, three NFL coaches -- Eric Mangini of the New York Jets, Romeo Crennel of the Cleveland Browns and Rod Marinelli of the Detroit Lions -- will be filing their unemployment papers any day now. Actually, that makes me wonder. Do fired professional coaches file for unemployment compensation? Are they actually listed on the national unemployment statistics? I wonder what the fired coaches bi-weekly unemployment checks will be? I'll bet it is more than $330 a week. I blame it on the economy. Forget the fact that the Lions went 0-16 this season. Remember, Detroit is home of the automaker. Forget the fact that Brett's Jets were once 8-3, but lost four of its last five games.
