I like Kurt Warner better because he is closer to my age and Ben Rothlisberger is hard to spell if you look at the screen cross-eyed.

Thanks for the memories

As I put my watch up to my ear, I expect to hear click, click, click, as each second moves forward. Kind of like my current days as a sportswriter ... click, click, click. For some reason, though, the watch is silent as it continues time. Again, kind of like my current days of operating Wyoming Sports.org. Yikes, cliche' overload here. The simple fact is my sports website is probably on its last leg. I say probably because in two weeks I will begin a new job as news copy editor/designer for the Wyoming Tribune Eagle in Cheyenne. Not only will I not have the time to cover local sporting events in Laramie, I can see my new employers likely not wanting me to compete against the WTE's fine sports staff. It makes perfect sense and I totally understand. When the position opened a while back, with my wife's blessing and encouragement, I decided to apply for the job. Mr. Thompson goes to Washington

No, this is not a remake of Jimmy Stewart's 1939 classic movie, "Mr. Smith goes to Washington." Mr. Thompson is Mountain West Conference commissioner Craig Thompson, who spent Thursday and Friday pleading his case that the current BCS football playoff system ... well, kind of sucks. The only problem is Congress is not in session. Evidently, they are on the President Obama World Tour drumming up support for the porkulus bill ... uh, I mean stimulus bill that was signed earlier in the week. Thompson is spreading the word to people who will spread the word to Congress when their travel expenses run out and they have to return to Washington. You have to give Thompson an A for effort. At least he is trying to get something done. Unfortunately, he's probably barking up the wrong tree. Final Four

When you're trying to at least stay competitive, one out of two is bad. That's what happened on my bracket on Saturday. Going from worst to first wasn't going to quite happen in my pool, but if I would have gotten my way, I would have made a pretty impressive showing in the end. Thanks Kansas. Or should I say, thanks for nothing North Carolina. I picked the Tar Heels to beat the Jayhawks and then win it all with a victory over Memphis. Of course, that was bracket-speak . In the real world, I did predict that North Carolina and Memphis would probably win close games. I was 0-for-2 there. Memphis did win, but dominated UCLA for the most part and Kansas routed North Carolina. So much for thinking that with four No. 1 seeds playing for the first time in history, they would be good games. It just goes to show you that anything can happen and usually does.
