Post 6 10-runs Rangers

The good news for the Laramie Rangers Wednesday night was that they showed some signs of improvement against Post 6. The bad news is they still lost to the Cheyenne team, 19-9 in six innings at Powers Field in Cheyenne.

Laramie jumped on Post 6 with seven runs in the first inning, only to see Post 6 respond with seven runs in the bottom of the first. The Rangers scored single runs in the second and third to go up 9-7, but saw Cheyenne score the game's final 12 runs, including seven in the bottom of the third.

The seven-time defending state champions are now 3-0 against Laramie this season, outscoring the Rangers 50-17.

For Laramie, second baseman Rylan Harding, first baseman Mike Garner, right fielder and pitcher Jordan Rhodine and left fielder Mike Hudson all had two hits. Harding, catcher Jon Sorenson and third baseman and pitcher Max Schoen all had two RBi in the game, with Sorenson hitting a two-run home run.

Cheyenne finished with 16 hits against Laramie pitching, including three hits each by center fielder Kyle Bybee (six RBI) and second baseman David Lazarus (five RBI), who both hit home runs. Catcher Mathew Pullos also had a home run for Post 6.

The loss dropped the Rangers to 2-4. Laramie returns to action Saturday through Monday in the Rough Riders Spring Classic in Gillette. Laramie will face Gillette, Rapid City, S.D. and Spearfish S.D. in the three-day tournament.
